I bought this gift inspite of the reviews since I am quite computer savy. Before we even opened the doll, we discovered that there iws a chatroom feature on the website. I do not allow my children on any site with a chat feature as all kinds of creepies can buy a doll and get to the girls on the site. I have heard numerous reports of questions like “how many times have you had sex” in the room, as well as other disturbing things about it. I am returning both dolls that I bought and going with a safer option. My daughters well being is not worth a eye color changing doll…

Like the others here, I had a hard time installing the software. Save yourself some time and download it directly from the dora links website. Once it was up and running, my son (who is a Dora fanatic and who has been playing with Dora, Diego, Isa, Benny, and Tico dolls for years) played with it once and then never asked for it again. Dora and the “adventure” girls do not go on adventures. They shop and decorate and change their clothes and hair and make up. Shame on Mattel for taking the Dora name and using it to sell this crappy toy that has nothing to do with the original girl.
Oh, and most of the game areas are locked. To unlock them you have to buy more stuff like clothes and other dolls. If you buy this doll be prepared to buy everything else in the series. Irritating.

I reserved this doll and within 2 hours of picking it up took it back just based on the way it looked up close. And the woman at the store said every person who had reserved it before they bought it had brought them back. Her face is scary looking, almost robotic. The other dolls in the series ( Dora Adventure girls, I think) looked alot better. Don’t bother buying this one.

Make sure you have the correct operating system. I bought this as a birthday gift for my daughter and after she opened we were going to play but….the cd to register the doll to her online world does not run on a MAC. So we are out of luck and can not return it. We have not used to doll yet. We will be taking it to grandmas.

Just a warning to parents. This toy will ultimately cost you hundreds of dollars. The technology behind the toy is pretty cool, but like everything else Nickelodeon does, it’s designed to seperate you from your money. If you purchase just the Dora doll, hardly any of the online activities are unlocked. In order to unlock them, guess what? That’s right, you have to buy the other dolls and accessories. My five year old daughter loves the doll, but was very upset that she could not explore all of the area in the online ‘village’. Yes, it’s a neat, interactive toy, but it’s deceptive. Don’t purchase this unless you are prepared to either spend lots more money, or have an upset child on your hands.
